Extensive Editing

Starting at $.016/word
We recommend an Extensive Edit for authors whose work may contain moderate to extensive problems with punctuation, grammar, point-of-view, tense, dialogue, narrative tone, and/or sentence structure and clarity. An extensive edit will also benefit those writing in English as a second language.
Extensive copyediting includes a line-by-line edit of the following:
-
- Typographical errors
- Misspelled words
- Punctuation
- Incorrect usage (effect/affect)
- Consistency/Standardization
- Sentence clarity
- Word choice
- Redundancies and/or inaccuracies in text
- Maintenance of tone/voice
- Content organization
- Flow/transitions
- Evaluation of sentence structure
- Presentation
Content organization may include a check for clarity and effectiveness of content or story sequence, including support and resolution.
Flow/transitions examines the continuous progress and pace of the story.
Evaluation of sentence structure examines sentences for clarity, flow, and readability. Will re-write or make recommendations for awkward sentences.
Presentation reviews and makes recommendations regarding the visual organization and layout (placement of headers, lists, and sentence/paragraph spacing) of the manuscript.
If you feel that your work may need developmental assistance, such as commentary regarding character development, narrative flow, and overall plot, theme, or organizational issues, you may wish to consider receiving an Editorial Evaluation prior to obtaining Copyediting Services.
An extensive edit may also include Comments from the editor. If you would like additional assistance in addressing these comments, or with a post-edit proofread, please note this in your preliminary contact. We offer authors a discount on post-edit proofreads. (We recommend that all authors receiving moderate or extensive editorial services consider having their work proofread prior to submitting to a publisher.)
